Peacebuilding & Early Warning Sign Project (Pews) For Gbokoda & Opuama Community in Warri North LGAs of Delta State

The aim of this project is to train community members on Early Warning response and reports on conflict issues, techniques and skills in conflict management

PEACEBUILDING & EARLY WARNING SIGN PROJECT (PEWS) FOR GBOKODA & OPUAMA COMMUNITY IN WARRI NORTH LGAS OF DELTA STATE FUNDED BY FOUNDATION FOR PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE IN THE NIGER DELTA (PIND) The aim of this project is to train community members on Early Warning response and reports on conflict issues, techniques and skills in conflict management as well as skills in Peacebuilding processin Gbokoda (Itsekiri) and Opuama Communities (Ijaw) in Warri North LGA of Delta State with 195 beneficiaries in total, from which 20 will be selected from each community while 15 security personnel will be in addition. There will be a further step down training for selected 5 persons per community (5 from Gbokoda and 5 from Opuama) who will form the PEWG The intervention forms two peacebuilding and early warning group (PEWG) of 5 members in each community that: PEWG members will be trained on early warning response & report The trained PEWG members will apply the skills acquired from the training in reporting to the PIND Early Warning platform that they will be linked to. The PEWG members will respond to issues identified from the reports. They will also engage with community stakeholders, security agencies, Civil Society organisations and government on conflict interventions and conflict management The PEWG members will organise town hall meetings, round table discussion and advocacy with support from CEPEJ
