Delta Ethnic Peace & Unity Cup Opens Registration for Ethnic -Based Teams

Registration has officially opened for the 2026 Delta Ethnic Peace & Unity Cup, a major sporting initiative designed to promote peace, unity, cultural integration and youth empowerment among the diverse ethnic communities of Delta State.
The tournament, powered by the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) in partnership with Africa for Peace Sports Academy, will bring together young football talents from the seven major ethnic groups in Delta State — Ijaw, Itsekiri, Isoko, Ika, Ndokwa, Urhobo and Aniocha/Oshimili — under the theme “United in Diversity.”
Registration is open for three age categories:
* Under 14 — ₦25,000
* Under 16 — ₦25,000
* Under 20 — ₦50,000
The organisers stressed that only community-based teams are allowed to participate; existing football clubs are not eligible to register for the competition.
Registration Benefits
Every ethnic team that successfully register for the tournament will be entitled to a complete team jersey, training balls, Goal post nets and other sports materials. The provision of these sporting materials is intended to support participating teams to ensure that young players have essential equipment for training and the competition.

The tournament is expected to commence with its opening ceremony on November 15, 2026, in Western Delta University, Ozoro, while the closing ceremony is scheduled for December 6, 2026, in Asaba.
