RALLY: 2018 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Center for Peace & Environmental Justice observed the 2018 World Environment Day in collaboration with National Orientation Agency Headquarters, Abuja. CEPEJ team led by the National Coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, and the Director General of NOA, represented by Mr. Davidson Aminu, a Director of the Agency to mark the World Environment day with the theme: Beat Plastic Pollution. The groups converged at the Jabi Lake Resort Play Ground, Jabi District, Abuja where the participants took off for the street walk.
The representative of the Director General, NOA, Mr. Davidson Aminu, the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, Rita Ehimen, CEPEJ Corporate Communications Manager and other relevant stakeholders sensitized the residents of Kado Estate and Jabi. The sensitization and street walk was carried out along Alex Ekwueme Way through the Airport Junction by the Jabi primary school were some the residents, the media and passersby were addressed on the need to preserve the environment, reduce or eliminate plastic pollution, and the need to keep the environment clean as well as proper way of managing plastics.

At the Airport junction, the National Coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade while addressing the Newsmen, asserted that our environment is our heritage, our environment must be preserved and he advised government at all levels to emulate the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) who have embarked on ‘Waste to Wealth’ programme by recycling the unused and used plastic materials even as the Director General, NOA, ably represented by Davidson Aminu, while presenting the goodwill message said that “if we, as individuals, do not dump refuse indiscriminately, plastic pollutants will not find their way into water bodies”
The event ended with a Press briefing by the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade and the representative of the DG, NOA.
